Adult Depressive Disorder Assessment
Part of our Young Adult Psychometric Assessment Services
Assessments to confirm depression or anxiety involve the individuals meeting with their psychologist to complete a comprehensive interview to discuss their experiences. Assessment tools are also used to support the outcomes of the assessment. An assessment to detect the presence of an anxiety or a depressive disorder can help young people better understand what they are going through. It can help to inform intervention and to know what supports are needed going forward.
What is a Depression Assessment?
A depression assessment involves meeting with a psychologist to explore the individual’s thoughts, feelings and experiences in a supportive and confidential setting. The psychologist will complete a comprehensive clinical interview to understand the emotional and behavioural symptoms the young person may be experiencing.
During the assessment, psychologists may also use evidence-based assessment tools or questionnaires. These tools help gather additional information and support the psychologist in identifying patterns that may indicate depression or other mental health concerns.
A depression assessment can help determine whether a young person may be experiencing a depressive disorder or another related difficulty. The outcome of the assessment can provide clarity about what is happening and guide recommendations for appropriate support, treatment or therapy moving forward.
